Group for programming languages and tools

The Programming Languages and Tools (PLATO) group conducts research in programming languages and software development tools, connecting theoretical foundations with practical applications. Its interests include the design and implementation of programming languages, compiler development and code optimization, as well as static analysis, software verification, and automated fault detection. The group’s projects include improving the performance and capabilities of GraalVM, LAV tool for software verification, SpeCS query containment solver for SPARQL, and designing and implementing the functional programming language Wafl. The group also researches the use of machine learning to predict program behavior and tune compiler parameters, as well as the development of language-invariant abstract syntax trees.
